Was watching YouTube. Saw an old performance of Starla by the Smashing Pumpkins from a 1994 show at the Fillmore. The audio quality and surprisingly the video as well were really good. It had the strangest effect on me. Transportive. Made me genuinely feel for a moment what it would have felt like to have seen them at South Park Meadows in 1994 when they literally played less than a mile away from my house. I begged my mom. I was 14 at the time and my mother warned me that "the only thing people do at shows like that is get high." I road my bike out of the neighborhood that night and sat in the grass near the highway and listened from a distance... oh to be young again...
